From Sarni to the Skies: My First Flight and the Journey Beyond Year 2006

From Small-Town Dreams to Soaring the Skies: My First Flight Experience

Like many small-town boys, I once dreamed of flying in an airplane. I would watch planes soar over my hometown, Sarni, and wonder if I’d ever be on one. As a child, I often stared at the sky, imagining the thrill of being up there among the clouds.

Fast Forward year 2006, after finishing my training at my first company, Erevmax: I was assigned to a new project—Desiya—in Delhi. The HR team gave me two options: take the train or fly. I chose the plane without a second thought.

That flight from Kolkata to Delhi became a major milestone—it was my first time flying. I still laugh at the memory of asking HR if I needed a passport for a flight. It was a genuine question from a small-town guy entering a new world.

Captured Moments: Highlights from the Memoir

Since that first flight, air travel has become a regular part of my professional life. Frequent business trips have taken me to client locations across the country. I’ve flown at all hours—early morning, noon, dusk, and even late at night. Each time, the sky offers a different experience.

The thrill of takeoff, the calm during flight, and the anticipation of landing never fade. One of my most memorable moments was watching the sunrise mid-flight. It reminded me of The Matrix, when Trinity tells Neo, “Beautiful,” as they see the real sun for the first time. Another unforgettable sight was the Narmada River from above. That view still holds a special place in my heart.

These journey taught me that no dream is too big if chased with commitment, integrity, and passion. Our childhood dreams—and the environment we grow up in—shape our ambitions and guide us forward. I always encourage children, including my own, to dream big. Dreams do come true.

My first flight wasn’t just a travel milestone. It was proof that even the most distant aspirations can become real with determination and perseverance.
