Your first job is a milestone that stays close to your heart and shapes your professional mindset forever. I received my first offer through NIT Rourkela campus placement at Erevmax Technologies in Kolkata.
Fresh out of college, after spending two months in Sarni, everything felt new, fast, and demanding. That one month in Kolkata became unforgettable, blending office memories with challenging experiences at my rented place. The training focused not only on technology applications but also on corporate life, discipline, and office ethics.
I clearly remember traveling alone by train to Kolkata for the first time in my life. My father wanted to accompany me, but I chose independence and started my journey solo.

Though the city was unfamiliar, the presence of college friends working nearby brought comfort and confidence. After training, I was given a choice to stay in Kolkata or move to New Delhi. The Delhi project was in the travel technology domain with a growing startup named Desiya Online Travel.
I accepted the challenge and chose Delhi, which felt closer to home despite being 900 kilometres away. It was also my first time flying! I even asked the HR if I needed a passport, which got a smile and the reply, “No, you’re still in India.”
That moment marked my entry into tech startup culture, beginning an exciting chapter in August 2006. Those early experiences built resilience, curiosity, and confidence that shaped the foundation of my career.
Even today, those first-job memories continue to influence how I approach work, risk, and growth.
