Yamuna Expressway Through My Eyes: A Road Trip Memoir Across India’s Growing Highway Network

Over the past 17 years, I’ve been actively exploring India through road trips—riding my Bajaj AvengerHarley-Davidson, and driving my Ford Fiesta. Each journey revealed how India’s road connectivity has transformed, especially post-2014. As someone living in NCR, I’ve seen firsthand how India’s highway infrastructure is becoming a true engine of national growth. One project that stands out in my memory is the Yamuna Expressway—once a controversial topic with daily news and farmer protests, but now a symbol of progress and connectivity.

I’ve personally traveled the Yamuna Expressway for nearly a decade. My earliest memory of documenting it was during my 2013 Mahakumbh Bike Ride. This expressway changed how NCR residents visit VrindavanMathura, and Agra—making round trips in a single day without exhaustion. Recently, I captured the entire stretch with my dashcam on car. Finally using my newly built AI-powered computing and gaming setup to process huge video logs, created a timelapse video series. It’s a visual tribute to how India is building the next generation of expressway networks—fast, efficient, and beautifully engineered.

What sets the Yamuna Expressway apart is not just its speed and connectivity, but its thoughtful modern infrastructure. With well-planned pit stops at every toll plaza, the expressway offers clean washrooms, food courts, fueling stations, and rest zones—perfect for families traveling with kids. These facilities make long road trips comfortable, safe, and enjoyable, redefining how we experience road travel in India. It’s more than a route—it’s a destination in itself, encouraging leisure, convenience, and smarter travel choices.

For many like me, road travel has become the first choice—even for longer journeys to LucknowKanpur, or Ayodhya—because of the unmatched last-mile connectivity. I believe in the next two decades, a new Bharat will emerge, connected seamlessly by a web of modern expressways and national highways. These roads are more than infrastructure—they are lifelines of progress, uniting people, cities, and dreams across the country.
